About Me

As a licensed clinical social worker with over 40 years of experience, I bring a direct, compassionate, and strength-based approach to my work with individuals, couples, and organizations.

My work has focused significanlty on trauma and crisis, working with people to build resilience and hope.

I am certified in short-term crisis work, long-term therapy, and clinical supervision. I hold the following credentials:

MS in Social Work, Columbia University School of Social Work

Postgraduate Clinical Training, East Side Institute for Short-Term Psychotherapy

Certified in evidence-based practices including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and T-Care Trauma-Informed Care

Academic Work

For over two decades, I’ve served as an Adjunct Associate Professor at Columbia University School of Social Work, where I teach, supervise, and mentor graduate students. I specialize in clinical field education and the training of new clinical supervisors. My faculty roles have also included appointments at Fordham University, Hunter College, and Silberman School of Social Work, where I’ve helped prepare the next generation of social workers with a strong foundation in empathy, ethics, and social justice.

I regularly present at national conferences on trauma, grief, and clinical supervision, and have co-authored research on post-crisis interventions and family systems.

Humanitarian & Crisis Work

I served as a senior clinician and researcher on the FDNY/Columbia University 9/11 Family Assessment Project, a five-year, home-based program supporting the families of firefighters who died in the September 11 attacks. This long-term initiative combined grief counseling, trauma work, and multi-generational family therapy, and remains one of the most meaningful chapters of my professional life.

For the past three years, I’ve worked with a global consulting firm that provides resilience support to humanitarian and development professionals working in high-stress environments. Through this work, I support teams from organizations like USAID, the World Food Programme, Partners in Health, and Mercy Corps, focusing on psychological safety, crisis intervention, and organizational wellbeing.
